I'm not sure why I've been so focused on my home lately, I think it's the changing temperatures and feeling fall in the air. Every fall I seem to want to redecorate, bake a lot and knit. Maybe it's just my way of getting ready for winter. Winters here are so cold, I end up staying indoors a lot.
I'm trying to change my kitchen from a chili pepper theme (chosen when I first moved out, 8 years ago) to a bright 50s/60s theme, which is totally more my style. I have 2 apple teapots because when Dustin was cooking a while ago, he dropped something on my new (well, new to me, it was a thrift store find) apple teapot and chipped a spot of enamel off. No big deal, but he felt really bad. I guess since then he had been looking on Ebay for a new one. He finally found one and won it. I couldn't throw the other one away, so now I have 2! They are a little different, I just think it looks so funny having these 2 unusual teapots on my stove that are almost exactly the same. I just can't give one up! I love them both.
I love these wire baskets to store my food in. Originally my bread and fruit were just piled on the counter and looked messy. See my new "gumball machine" jar behind them? I know, it's all covered up. I love it, I just got it yesterday. It's kind of like a cookie jar with a lid.
A drawer full of new pretty kitchen towels!
I got this pillow yesterday at the Farmer's Co-op antique store here in Redmond. It might not be for everyone, but I absolutely love it. It's hand embroidered and dyed, I have no idea when it was made though. Maybe the 50s? I think it's funny that someone embroidered her nonchalantly smoking, where would you find a pillow like that these days? The dog has red eyes, which is a little weird, but those 2 things made me love it all the more. ;)
Hey Amanda! You are so brave to use all that color...I wish I could pull it off. I love the tea pots and the pillow rocks :). I'm jealous of cooler weather - maybe one day soon it will be under a 100 down here!

I'm lovin' your style! Great colors in the kitchen for sure. My kitchen is so not my style right now. I'm afraid I'd have to repaint everything and get some old appliances in order to make it more "me." For now, a few colorful touches help.
Thanks for visiting my blog and for the happy comment too! :)

I feel the same as you, that nesting feeling. all of the sudden I have the energy to organize and decorate more than normal in the last few days, I feel like a squirrel gathering acorns for the winter! I love you kitchen stuff, and new towels, how pretty!
That pillow totally reminds me of you! I dont know much about that era, but is it Art Noveau style? From friends I have had that had portraits of smoking women side views like that, that is the term I have heard for it, but I could be way off. I love hand stitched art like that, so simple and detailed at the same time. My favorite part of the pillow is the dog's crazy red eyes!
Anyways, have fun decorating and creating new treasures! Talk to you soon!

Yeah I like having both tea pots too... they look cool together on the stove. I was pretty excited to find the second one on eBay. Only $5 too!!!!! It did take a while to find though, probably about a month or two of keeping an eye out on eBay. I just felt really bad when I broke the first one after you only had it for a couple of weeks and wanted to get you a new one. I'm glad you like both of them though. I love you!!! :)
