The crazy weather

This is a sunset picture taken on a walk last week when it was stormy. We've been having the weirdest weather! For 3 days it was over 100 degrees then for the last 2 days it's been staying around 70 degrees and we've seen everything from thunderstorms to rain to hail to sunshine! That's how it gets around here. Dustin's been at work for the last 4 days so Lucy and I have been trying to stay indoors to avoid the craziness outside. We've been holed up a little, either with the air conditioning or with all the windows wide open listening to and smelling the rain.




I finally finished my first quilt! It was a pretty ambitious project for a first quilt, it totally covers the top of a queen sized bed! I probably should have started with a wall quilt. It's a little wonky, but not too bad. :) I tied it instead of quilting it, and used a vintage sheet for the backing. It was a birthday present for my mom. My next quilt is going to be a wall quilt, I bought the pattern and am going to use bright candy colored fabrics from my stash. I'm excited to start it, just need to finish a couple other things first.

Lucy and I made this cute cake (well really I did, while she played on the kitchen floor). A very nice swap partner sent me a "cupcake kit" in a swap along with a little cupcake doll. It had cake mix, frosting, sprinkles and cupcake papers! I used the cake mix, the frosting and some of the sprinkles for the cake (I already had the flowers) and I still have enough stuff left over to make a couple batches of cupcakes. I got the cute sugar flowers here, in Tigard. They have everything for baking, it is a very fun store to visit!

I like how she has frosting and sprinkles hanging off her chin. :)

what a cute cake! Great job on the quilt, I am sure it will mean a lot to your mom. I love everything about it, and it reminds me a lot of you and your style, which i really like.
The weather has been the same here, too, completely crazy! It was unbearable for a few days last week, then after we got home from camping a huge storm hit and has lasted up until today, it is sunny again.
