The three of us took a little 2 night trip to Portland last week and boy did we need to get out of town! There's nothing like leaving town for a little while to gain some perspective. We had fun just hanging out as a family, taking walks, spending time with my sister in law Holly and her husband Casey and shopping, of course. Lucy got a little sick during our trip, so she was fussy the last day or so and is still sick, poor baby. She's getting better though. I think it was an onslaught of teething, an ear infection, being tired from the trip and a cold all at once. I feel so sorry for her but she's on antibiotics, her 2 little teeth just broke through and she seems more perky today. She seems more like her old self now. We stayed in the Belmont/Hawthorne area which we love, my husband has a couple pictures on his Flickr. I had so much fun going to Uwajimaya and Kinokuyina, a Japanese grocery store and bookstore, respectively, in Beaverton. Dustin always loads up on snacks and I on Japanese craft books when we're there!
I haven't read them yet, I'm saving them to read as a treat for myself. Is that weird? I tend to do that with books and magazines that I know I'm going to love. Then when I finally read them - Ahhhhh. :) Bliss.
I walked to Saint Cupcake which was near our rental house, their cupcakes are dang good! I saved the box because it was so cute. Again - weird? Their website is awfully cute too!
There is a shop called Noun which is located in the same building as Saint Cupcake. I spent a really long time in there and probably could have stayed longer! I loved everything they have. Here's what I picked out:
The sheep print is by Elizabeth Soule, a Portland local artist. I love it! I saw the article about her in the November Sunset and fell in love with her animal prints. I was so excited to see them in person! It's mounted on a box frame so it can either stand alone or be hung. I have a goal to collect all of these photo boxes. *cough*christmasorbirthdaypresentidea*cough*.
I also had a nice time browsing in The Button Emporium and Josephine's Dry Goods. I can't believe I'd never been to either before.
I love everything. It's like candy to me and I tend to get a little carried away. These things were all my last big splurges for a while, we're on a tight budget for a while.
I hope all of you had a great week too!!! And have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
How fun! I hope to get out to the Pacific NW someday. I'm always curious about other cities!
Hope your little one is feeling better soon! That is so tough.

Aw, I hope Luy is felling better by now! It was sure nice to see her! Those japanese craft books are so adorable, I wih I could look at them. I save magazine and books for later all the time, because nothing is better to me than having a good magazine when I am under the weather or bored
I can't to see you again! If I don't talk to you before Thanksgiving, have a great one with everyone!

Saint Cupcake....I think that's hilarious! I love all of your fabulous finds (thanks for the links!). I'm going to put you on my blogroll, my friend. We seem to have similar taste.
