A ritual that Lucy and I have almost every night is collecting the eggs from the chickens, usually somewhere around dinner time. She has a special striped metal bucket that she keeps somewhere important. Whenever I say "Go get your egg bucket" she always comes back with it very quickly! She knows right where it is. She's in charge of putting it away, too.
She is so excited to find the eggs and is very gentle and careful with them! She's only broken one, and that was right at first.
She carries her bucket into the house very proudly and puts the eggs in the egg carton in the fridge. She always has to be the one to close the fridge door, and she'll keep slowly closing it/peeking in to see when the light turns off.
Yes, I think egg collecting is the highlight of her evening.
Shhhhh...Don't tell anyone, but it's the highlight of mine too.
Oh she melts a heart with those beautiful little eyes in the last photo. I wish we had chickens too. My sister has them and yum! We get ours from the farmer's market but I don't think that is quite the same experience. xoxo
