We have been having so much fun with our new chickens, I just love them! There's something so cozy and comforting and, well, clucky about them. They're like little old ladies. Sharp eyed, sassy, plump, gossipy old ladies. We got 3 new ones today to add to the group! Now we have 6.
From the left: Frass, Scarlett and Marie. Frass is a Gold Star. Scarlett and Marie are Barred Plymouth Rocks. Our six chickens are Sass, Frass, Bridget, Marie, Scarlett and Coco. One gold star, 3 barred plymouth rocks and 2 rhode island reds.
They just started laying about a week ago! We're up to over a dozen eggs now. I love the color and size variation we've gotten. They're fun to find in the nest boxes, too.
I cracked my first egg from our chickens for brownies this evening! It was a big egg, and had a double yolk inside! I think it's a lucky omen, somehow. That or our chickens are laying freakish eggs! I'd rather believe it's lucky. Best brownies ever, by the way.
oooh I am super jealous of the chickens...my sister just bought some and she is always telling me about how delicious the eggs are. sigh. maybe one day. xoxo
