I just wanted to say sorry for my absence the last few days! We've all been sick around here. If you haven't noticed, I'm going to do the 30 days of happiness more like 30 posts of happiness. :) I didn't realize how busy I am! It's hard for me to blog every single day.
Anyway, weird old things make me happy! The more tattered, torn, the more they show signs of use - the better. I don't like those antique stores where everything is in mint condition and they have tons of crystal and everything's super expensive. I love the unusual, out of the way antique/junk shops that have things that you've never seen before. Beat up, old things that someone would probably have thrown away are my favorites.
These things are my most favorite weird old things I've found - ever. If I had to only look at one thing for the rest of my life, these would be it. And I think I'd be perfectly happy! From what I can tell, they're vintage Christmas tree ornaments still on their packaging. They all have little strings that you can tie around something. The colors, the velvet, the tarnished tinsel, even the cards - love them so much! I love those scalloped edges and the pink blush on the cards.
I want to hang these around my neck like a necklace, or eat them, or something! They look like yummy, sparkly candy things.
But they're just going to have to sit on my shelf in my craft room in all their glory. I love them too much to even use them on something. Those little tarnished elephants with their fuchsia backing just kill me. For now they're all just sitting there on their cards.
What's your most favorite weird old thing? And none of you had better say your husbands (Betty). ;)
It just amazes me how well you know me, yes I was going to say, "you know who". But another of my favorite old things is the box of post cards your Dad found in the desert and also my plastic angel on a cardboard frame from when I was a little girl that I hang every christmas season by the wood stove.
