Somewhere along the line of raising Lucy, Dustin and I started calling her teeth toofy woofurs. I don't remember why. Look at those teeth. Aren't they cute?
Know what? Every one of those little chompers has been the bane of my existence (FYI, because I didn't know). Teething is so, so incredibly hard on both parents and child. The grand finale? 2 year molars, 2 acquired during the past week! Whoa those teeth sucked. Toddler teething is different than baby teething, I learned. Constant screaming and screeching - little girls are hard on the ears sometimes. Running up and down the hall yelling. Hitting Dustin because she was in pain. Waking up screaming 4-5 times a night. She wasn't just crying with pain, she was furious! She wanted mommy, mommy, mommy all day and all night.
Well, the top ones are in. Word's still out on the bottom ones. Today was the first day in about 5 days that I didn't have to overlap tylenol doses all day and night. I was amazed last night because I got to sleep for 9 hours in a row!! Blissful. Definitely was not taken for granted.
There's also the "omg my child is in pain" thing, too. I get so upset when she's upset. I think it's biological/hormonal. I think mommies get hugely emotional when their little ones are hurting, a level of emotion that dads don't quite reach. All is not right with the world until little one feels better.
Poor baby, she couldn't even drink out of her sippy cup. :( Poor sad little sweetie.
So today, we're feeling better around here. Lucy's sleeping soundly, she's been 100% happier, and for now - her toofy woofurs are okay.
And just imagine, for every baby you have, a whole new mouth of toofies to be teethed!
Lucy and I both need a teething merit badge from this week, I think.
